SCOPE OF WORK

Contracted to John Holland, TWE were awarded the contract to supply structural mechanical and piping construction works at the Worsley Efficiency and Growth (E&G) Alumina Refinery project in Western Australia.

Area 1 mechanical and piping works have increased the alumina refinery capacity by over 30%, from 3.5 to 4.6 million tonnes per annum. The contract involved construction of new processing facilities for bauxite blending and storage, calcination, filtration, classification and alumina handling. Process piping works and modifications to the site's existing precipitation facility were also undertaken as part of this work.

John Holland's scope of work included pre-assembly and installation of 6000 tonnes of structural steel, 56,000 metres of piping and 200 tonnes of bulk mechanical items.

The major mechanical and piping installation package for Worsley's E&G Project follows the contract win on the Yarwun 2 Alumina Refinery project in Queensland.
